Short stop in the US

September 13, 2016

I'm currently back in the US after being away for over a year. I plan to be home for only two weeks and then I'm off to Mexico, where I plan to spend the rest of the year.

It's funny how nothing really changed in that 1+ year period. Everything still looks and feels familiar. Even driving around feels so natural, despite the fact that I haven't driven a car since ...

Grand Canyon National Park

December 28, 2011

I was very excited to visit the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Though I probably set my expectations a little too high, as I was pretty disappointed…

I only spent a day at the park and the weather wasn’t that great, which probably contributed to my disappointment. The view from one of the viewpoints is definitely amazing, but it looked pretty much the same from all the other ...

Las Vegas

December 27, 2011

Now I understand why some people, no matter how much they make, will always be broke. Places like Vegas take all their money away.

I don’t gamble and I’m not really a big drinker/partyer, but I have to admit that I had fun in Vegas. It’s been called the “Disneyland for Adults.” There’s something here for everyone. The casino owners did a great job making this a place you don ...

San Diego

December 19, 2011

Seeing the “Welcome to Sunny San Diego!” sign as I entered the city put a smile on my face. Well, that was only true for my first two days here. The following two days, which I planned to do outdoor stuff, was rainy! I still liked the city and enjoyed my time here, though. Has a nice laid back feel to it. Definitely doesn’t feel like Los Angeles.

I stayed in a Hostelling International ...

Pacific Coast Highway

December 13, 2011

I found out about the Pacific Coast Highway (also known as Highway 1 or CA-1) before I arrived in San Francisco. It’s supposed to be a very scenic route and since I’m planning on visiting Los Angeles and San Diego I decided to take this route.

It is definitely one of the best drives I’ve ever done! I loved seeing the mountains and the ocean as I was driving. The weather again ...

Los Angeles

December 13, 2011

If there’s one thing I remember the most during my stay in Los Angeles, it’s sitting in traffic. I encountered heavy traffic while driving around almost every day I was there (with the exception of Saturday morning when I left the city, probably because everyone was still asleep as they partied too hard the night before).

The guide I was reading mentioned that you really need a car to get around Los Angeles ...

Hearst Castle

December 11, 2011

Talk about location!

I was looking for things to do while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway and Hearst Castle kept coming up. As I get closer, I started seeing signs pointing to it. It was right off the highway so I decided to check it out.

I only did the Grand Rooms tour for $25 as it’s supposed to be their most popular one. The tour starts with a bus taking you all ...
