Reg Hardware posted some pictures and diagrams of the connectors for the upcoming version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2008) in Las Vegas. USB 3.0, also known as ‘SuperSpeed’ USB, will be able to transfer data at speeds of up 4.8Gb/s, ten times faster than the current Hi-Speed USB 2.0 standard (480Mb/s).

USB 3.0 will be backwards-compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. It is expected to be released later this year.
